Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Literature Teacher to join our faculty for Grades 10-12. The ideal candidate will inspire students to appreciate and critically analyse literature from various cultures and time periods. This role requires a commitment to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfil the requirements of the school's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Conduct classroom instruction in English Literature, focusing on literary analysis, critical thinking, and effective communication.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents, and preparing students for internal and external examinations.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, including those with different learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by school policies.
  • Uphold and model the school's mission, vision, and values.

  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English Literature, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Teaching certification or relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of English literature, literary criticism, and pedagogical strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create a supportive and challenging learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Experience with IB, AP, or other international curricula.
    • Familiarity with second-language acquisition and supporting ESL students.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in education.
