YUECHENG EDUCATION
The
purpose of YueCheng Education (YCE) is to provide a future-oriented education
for the children of Chinese and expatriate families living in Beijing. YCE has now begun the construction of a network
of Frontier Kindergartens for Chinese children. The strength of YCE lies in the
quality of its international and Chinese staff, and mutual support extended between
the different but complementary institutions.
The Founding Director of Curriculum Development for YueCheng Frontier Kindergartens is a senior leadership position. Based at
the beautiful Shuangqiao Courtyard Campus described above, the Founding
Director of Curriculum Development will initially have responsibility for
developing the common curriculum for this campus and for a second campus which
is planned to open shortly thereafter. The
person appointed will have considerable freedom for developing the shape of the
curriculum, which will be broadly based on the foundational principles outlined
above. Prior to assuming duties, the appointee will receive a thorough
orientation in the social, academic and cultural considerations that will be
important to the successful implementation of this important role. The Founding
Director of Curriculum Development will work in close collaboration with the
Chinese Curriculum Coordinator in order to ensure a seamless fusion of the best
of China and the world in this dual language program, which will be taught by
teams of expatriate and Chinese teachers. A further major aspect of the role
will be the initial and ongoing design and implementation of the professional
development program for teachers on both, and possibly additional, campuses.
In preparation for opening the Shuangqiao
Courtyard campus:
- Design, and plan the delivery of,
the child-centered common curriculum in collaboration with the Chinese
Curriculum Coordinator in alignment with the guiding statements of YueCheng
Frontier Kindergartens and the program’s foundational principles;
- Establish criteria and methodologies
for the assessment of student progress;
- Establish pedagogical principles and
methodologies aligned to the curriculum and to the criteria and methodologies
of student assessment;
- Establish faculty profile expectations
and participate in the faculty recruitment process;
- Participate in the design and
implementation of orientation and professional development of faculty;
- Participate in the establishment of
policies and procedures for the appraisal of faculty;
- Participate in the establishment of
student enrollment criteria and in developing enrollment protocols and practices;
- Develop materials to explain the
learning program to prospective parents, and support promotional activities.
Following the opening of the Shuangqiao
Courtyard Campus (expected September 2019):
- Participate in the preparation and
opening of the YueCheng Frontier Kindergarten, Banbidian Campus;
- Review and continue to develop the child-centered
common curriculum;
- Continue to develop and implement
the professional development of faculty of both campuses;
- Review and assess the implementation
of criteria and methodologies of student assessment;
- Continue to review and develop
pedagogical principles and methodologies aligned to the curriculum and to the
criteria and methodologies of student assessment;
- Participate in the establishment of
policies and procedures for the appraisal of faculty;
- Participate in the establishment of
student enrollment criteria and in developing enrollment protocols and practices;
- Establish and implement policies and
procedures for educational quality assurance across both (and possibly subsequent)
campuses.
Requirements
- Early childhood or pre-school
education qualification;
- Minimum 8 years’ experience as an early
childhood educator;
- Strong leadership capacity;
- Experience of and/or commitment to developing
a future-oriented curriculum including personalized learning and investigative
play;
- Experience of and/or commitment to collaborating
in the development of a bilingual/dual language program for early learners;
- Strong desire to lead in a school
which fuses the best of local and international educational principles and
practices in order to create something that is better than either;
- Strong desire to work with both
local and international teachers and to work in, and facilitate the creation of,
collaborative teams;
- Desire to work with local student
and parent population;
- Growth mindset;
- Flexible thinking;
- A strong interest in living and
working in China.
