Job Description
Job Title: Classroom Teacher
Department: Primary School
Line Manager: Head of Lower/Upper Primary School
Job Purpose
The Primary School Classroom Teachers provide pastoral care to the students within their
class and ensure that they are organized so that the school day runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
• Support the Mission and Vision of the school.
• Take all necessary measures to safeguard students and promote the health and safety
of the school community.
• Follow the Code of Conduct and all published policies of the school.
• Act professionally in dress, appearance and approach to work.
• Uphold the school’s behavior management policy.
• Maintain a purposeful and effective atmosphere within the classroom and other
learning areas.
• Attend team, staff and whole school and other meetings and events as appropriate,
contributing positively whenever possible.
• Take responsibility for your own professional and personal development.
Main duties & responsibilities to support achieving accountabilities
Teaching and Learning
• Mark the attendance registers in a timely manner each day.
• Assist the students in developing their executive functions.
• Ensure that students are wearing their correct uniform at the beginning of each day.
• Ensure that students are updated regarding events that are happening throughout the
school that impact them.
• Support the learning of the school’s Virtues, Personal Learning Goals and Student Code
of Conduct during homeroom lessons.
• Ensure that students are dismissed from school appropriately.
Other Duties
• Create and maintain an emotionally safe, warm, friendly and responsive classroom.
• Be the main provider of pastoral care for the students in your homeroom.
• Be the main point of contact for parents of students in your homeroom.
Maintain regular communication with parents of homeroom students on all classroom
activities and any issues that arise with specific students; prepare a weekly newsletter
for parents which highlights past and planned future learning.
• Monitor your homeroom students while they eat, ensuring they eat an appropriate
meal.
• Ensure that students line up at the end of recess breaks appropriately and arrive at
their next lesson in a timely manner.
• Attend regular Grade Level Meetings and contribute to the development of all students
across the grade level.
• Take all necessary measures to safeguard students and promote the health and safety
of the school community.
• Contribute to the school’s enrichment programme (clubs and extramural activities) with
all grade levels.

Requirements
Person Specification
Minimum Academic Degree required
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Education
• Teaching license
Professional skill and knowledge required
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines
• Deep understanding of how to effectively teach a range of curriculums
• Experience in using technology to enhance learning
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills
• Strong moral values and discipline
• A patient and resilient personality
• Dedication to students and education
Experience
• At least 2 years of experience as Primary School Teacher
• Cross-culture working experience in an international school is an advantage
IT Skills
• Microsoft Office and knowledge of relevant software.
• Mac OS
