School Doctor

The School Doctor at Avenues will be responsible for policy development, government compliance and health office management. The School Doctor will manage the school’s nurse team covering Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary Divisions, as well as the school’s sports complex.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will bring proven abilities to contribute in the following areas:

• ●  Provide medical supervision and oversight to the nurse team
  

• ●  Collaborate with the nurses on the:
  

  • ·  Development of school health policies, including around crisis/emergency response, health office organization, training for faculty and staff, and other areas as needed
    

  • ·  Creation and implementation of health awareness campaigns for students and their parents
    

  • ·  Promotion of a healthy school environment by ensuring appropriate exclusion for infectious illnesses
    

  • ·  Management of medical supplies and purchasing
    

• ●  Prepare Chinese government reporting and ensure full compliance with regulations pertaining to health and safety
  

• ●  Lead COVID epidemic prevention and control measures for the school as required by the Education Bureau
  

• ●  Serve as advocate and consultant on matters of health education, public health law and related medical problems, and emergency treatment procedures
  

• ●  Deliver medical care and physical screening to students; assessing students and implementing first aid measures for students and staff as needed
  

0. Candidates should have most, if not all, of the following:
   

   • ●  Registered professional doctor or nurse practitioner, licensed to practice
     

   • ●  Master’s degree in General Medicine from a recognized medical university with a specialty in pediatrics, internal medicine and/or family medicine
     

   • ●  Experience as a school, pediatric and/or public health doctor preferred
     

   • ●  Strong interpersonal skills to relate, communicate effectively with students, staff,
     

     administration, parents and the community.
     

   • ●  Knowledge of school health programs such as immunization and other requirements
     

   • ●  Understanding of pediatric growth and development, allergies and behavioral health
     

   • ●  Understanding of health curriculum and instruction for children from toddler (2-year-olds) through grade 12
     

   • ●  Proficiency in computer operation, including office software, online research and database operation
     

   • ●  Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese
