Job Description

Job Outline: Promote the school learning goals of Community, Excellence, Self-Motivated Learning, Character, and Global Connection by overseeing the following areas: Developing and Maintaining Curricular Standards, Faculty Recruiting, Professional Development, Faculty Oversight, Admissions Processes, and Student Academic Life.
 
Job Duties:

1. Curriculum Standards
- Review, research and update the overall academic program
- Review and revise the curriculum map – horizontally and vertically aligned standards
- Evaluate standardized assessment results and assist implementing necessary changes into the curriculum
2. Teacher Recruiting
- Communicate department needs to the Human Resources Office
- Coordinate with Human Resources Office to evaluate potential candidates  Interview prospective teachers and write evaluations
- Organize follow-up communication with appropriate department heads

3. Faculty Professional Development
-Coordinate with the Principal and MHS AA Director for new teacher orientation: o Setting school professional expectations
- Reviewing school policies regarding classroom management
- Ensuring all new faculty follow Understanding by Design unit plans
- Assisting new teachers with online programs – EngradePro and Atlas
4. Develop professional training to improve teacher instruction which may include:
- Finding and announcing professional development opportunities throughout Beijing o Assisting in creating professional development or in-service activities
- Supporting teachers through department meetings
5. Faculty Oversight
- Coordinate with Principal to annually review and revise the Faculty Handbook
- Develop and communicate the class schedule and school academic calendar
- Manage substitutes when needed
- Regularly meet with department heads for curriculum development and support
- Conduct teacher observations, evaluations and discipline (if necessary)
- Oversee department heads in implementing vertically aligned curriculum through teacher unit and lesson plans, and updating Atlas
- Oversee teacher communication with parents and participate in parent conferences when necessary
6. Admissions
- Cooperate with the Admissions Office by reviewing admissions applications
- Serve on the Admissions Committee to review and revise the admissions process  Participate in interviews of prospective student families
- Assist in overseeing admissions testing and decisions
7. Student Academic Life
- Contribute to the annual review and revise process for the Student Handbook
- Set and implement academic probation standards and ensure consistency
- Form student learning outcomes/requirements and track student growth
- Develop, oversee, and promote academic activities (e.g. Science Fair)
- Maintain dialogue with parents, faculty, and students about the school program, academic events, Meet the Teacher Night, Open Classes, and any academic concerns
- Coordinate with MHS SA Director for Student Recognition/Academic Achievement
 

 

Requirements

 

- Native English speaker is required
- Bachelor in Education or Licensed Teacher
- Evidence of current relevant professional development preferred
- 120 hours TESOL/TEFL certificate

 

 

Benefits

 

  • Start Salary: 18,000 - 25,000 RMB/month based on qualification and experience
  • Subsidized housing provided 
  • Responsibility Stipend (Duty Allowance): 1200RMB-2000RMB/month, will only be paid for 9 months when the school is in session
  • Flight reimbursed, 1 round-trip ticket (One-time only and must be approved by HR in advance)
  • Home Visit Travel Allowance : Additional 12,000 RMB/year to subsidize for travel (Paid 1,000 RMB monthly)
  • Relocation Allowance (One-time only per employee/family if both employed)
  • Moving from overseas: 

A one-off relocation allowance will be payable in Chinese local currency RMB, following the guideline of 6,000RMB per single teacher and 12,000RMB per family

  • Moving from mainland China:

3,000RMB per single teacher and 6,000RMB per family

  • Pay review : Annual salary adjustment subject to overall school profit and individual evaluation performance
  • Paid Vacations in winter, summer and other paid holidays based on national statutory holiday’s arrangement
  • Professional  Development (PD allowance) : School PD is available to qualified teachers  (Must be approved by direct supervisors and the School Committee)
  • Full worldwide health insurance
  • Children’s SMIC School Tuition: Subsidized tuition pending program annual review
