Thank you for your interest in TGA! Located just
outside of Tianjin in the People’s Republic of China,
our school was established in 1995 by the Tianjin
Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA)
government to support the families of the international
business community.
We have 40 foreign teachers on our staff. Their average tenure is 4 years. We experience about 20%
foreign staff turnover each year. Our teachers come
from all over the world.
TEDA is a “new city” by Chinese standards, just 35 years
old. Part of the Binhai district, it is near the international
shipping port, and is characterized by wide avenues,
plenty of green space, modern buildings, western-style
malls and stores, international restaurants and cafes,
clinics and hospitals. Western food and groceries are
readily available, and most residences, shops and TGA
are located within 3 kilometers of each other. Rental
bikes and taxis are cheap and plentiful, and most
destinations are a short walk or ride away.

This position is responsible for facilitating the cognitive, affective, ethical and
physical growth and development of students, and to ensure that each student
receives the guidance and support necessary for high quality learning and
equitable access to the full range of learning opportunities available.
Designs purposeful, engaging and relevant lessons and activities with measurable learning outcomes; ensures students are aware of and pursue intended outcomes
Knows and understands students; plans lessons and activities appropriate for developmental level, individual language and learning needs, interests and culture
Ensures planning and instruction are sequential and aligned with established learning and curricular standards
Facilitates learning activities that are highly relevant, require critical and creative high-level thought and have multiple correct responses or approaches
Effectively applies current research-based pedagogical strategies, approaches
and methodologies to meet the needs of diverse learners
Intentionally facilitates and supports academic language development to meet
the needs of language learners in the mainstream classroom
Consistently and intentionally incorporates ESLRs into teaching
Anticipates and prepares for student misunderstanding; plans for further
explanation, re-teaching and support as necessary
Designs and uses varied assessment techniques and strategies to inform
teaching and improve learning; persists until students reach expected
achievement
Provides timely and meaningful feedback that leads to improved learning;

Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area
State or provincial certification as a professional teacher
English language fluency
A collaborative and inclusive approach to teaching and learning
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Eligibility for a Chinese work visa (some positions have restrictions)
