Dalian, pronounced /ˌdɑːljɑːn/, is a sub-provincial port city in Liaoning province and the fourth-most popular city in Northeast China.

Dalian has become a financial and shipping center in East Asia centruies ago. The city was used to be known as "Port Arthur" and "Ryojun" (Japanese: 旅順). Using its port power, today Dalian attracts many foreign business coming to the city.

How to Get to Dalian

By Air

Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport is about 12km (7.5 miles) away from the city center. It has flights to most cities in China as well as international flights to nearby Asian countries.

By Train

Dalian has two railway stations, which are Dalian railway station and Dalian North railway station. With the high-speed railway system, it takes only 1.5 hours to travel from Dalian to Shenyang.

Where to Live in Dalian

Lushun District: Dalian’s top outdoor recreation centre. Over 700 small islands along the shoreline. People can hire boats or swim in the warm water.

Jinzhou District: Dalian’s main economic centre, most foreign influence in the whole city. Has many culture sites such as Xiang Shui Temple and the Dalian Yingchengzi Folk Customs Museum.

Shanhekou District: on the west side of the city, is an important restdential area. You can go shop at He Ping Commercial Plaza, and also enjoy some quiet time in Jinshi Yuan Park.

Xigang District: central location of Dalian, makes it natural hub for many prominent business. You have popular plazas like Renin square and Olympic square for tourism.

Zhongshan District: Southeast of the city center. Its proximity to the airport and the downtown shopping hubs make this the preferred area for lodging.
