Job Description

The King’s School Shenzhen International opened its new international campus in Autumn 2022,
educating students from Grade 1-12 (UK Years 2-13). This is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built school
based on its close relationship with The King’s School Canterbury, Europe’s oldest school and one of the
most prestigious schools in England.
We adopt a genuine ‘whole-child’ philosophy throughout the school, focusing upon challenging young
people through curriculum breadth and depth, with a high degree of active and creative learning, and a
wide-ranging co-curricular programme, all supported by the best quality of pastoral care.
All teachers are expected to contribute to all aspects of a student’s development.
Having opened the Pre-Prep in 2019 and now the main International School on a magnificent new campus
in September 2022, we are now about to start our A Level programme. We have already started our
IGCSEs. The International School comprises a Prep School (Grades 1-7, UK Years 2-8) and a Senior
School, Grades 8-12.

We believe in a very active pedagogy through
which our students will be engaged physically
in the learning process. We also recognise the
importance of a wide curriculum which
encourages brain growth, problem solving
and flexibility of thought. Therefore, we place
a high emphasis upon the importance of
developing design and technology in its
broadest sense and as fit for the 21st century.
We have workshops and labs for this purpose
and, with our DJI workroom, there is a strong emphasis upon robotics.
We want the Design and Technology department to work especially closely with Art and Design,
Computing and Science, forming a very strong STEAM base for our students. However, our department
is in the early stages so this is an exciting opportunity to join our inspirational Head of Department and
develop a very special provision.
The Design and Technology department is dynamic and purposeful. We work together and with other
teachers to achieve transdisciplinary learning within our curriculum. We are aiming for passionate
educators that are looking to guide the next generation of designers, problem solvers and believers. We
have a large departmental space with many functional workshops. This includes computer labs, carpentry,
electronics, plastics and our very own state-of-the-art DJI Robotics lab.

School Life and Routines
All teachers have shared responsibility for smooth daily running of the School as an entity - and for
maintaining the general ethos, routine and pedagogy in line with the King’s School’s Aims and Ethos – as
directed within reason by the Leadership team and the Executive Principal.
In so doing, they should:
- ensure that the School’s rules and policies are maintained
- attend School meetings and public events
- support co-curricular events and activities
- be prepared where necessary and within reason to cover for absent teachers
Safeguarding, Student Welfare and Pastoral Care
All teachers:
- must ensure that they are fully aware of policies and practices with regard to safeguarding
and student welfare
- must ensure that they adhere to the published systems
- must be role models to all students at all times
- must be prepared to do pastoral, tutorial work as designated by school leadership
