High School English Language Arts Teacher

SCHOOL SETTING:

Ying Cai International High School is located on the mainland in the Jimei District of Xiamen. The school was established in 2007 to prepare Chinese students for top overseas universities throughout the world. Ying Cai International High School is a division of Xiamen Ying Cai School, a large and well-established K-12 private boarding school in Xiamen with over 3000 students. With a population of approximately 170 students, Ying Cai International High School offers a Cognia accredited college prep high school diploma. Approximately half of the instructional day is in English and half in Chinese. The school boasts a beautiful and modern campus covering 41 acres. The school provides students with dormitory-style living and a safe and secure learning environment. The campus includes the following: computer labs, library, art center, sports center, music center, swimming pool, central air conditioning, and high-speed internet.

TYPICAL SCHOOL DAY:

The instructional day for foreign teachers is generally 7:30 AM-4:30 PM.

SCHEDULED MEETINGS:

Teachers are expected to attend and actively engage in faculty meetings to develop, improve, and implement programs that promote the attainment of our mission and school-wide student learning outcomes. In addition, teachers are expected to attend evening events outside the school day 1-2 times per quarter.

EXTRA_CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

Teachers are expected to supervise 1-2 periods per week of activities. These activities are generally outside of the regular school day.

DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Homeroom Supervision, Lesson Planning/Preparation, Assessment Development, Evaluation of Student Learning, Attendance/Participation at Faculty Meetings, Occasional Evening Events, Collaboration with Colleagues, Participation in Professional Development Activities, Contributions to the Overall Improvement of the School, Demonstration of Professionalism, and Flexible Team Player.
