Job Description

Haileybury, the largest independent school in Australia, has established Australia’s first international school in China. The school, situated near Beijing, teaches the Victorian Curriculum of Education (VCE) and has been created to cater for Chinese students who want an international future. We are looking for an experienced JS English Head of Teaching and learning who wants to be part of this future.

Responsibilities:
The Head of Teaching and Learning of the Junior School English Program under the direction of the Head of Junior School English will assist in overseeing the primary and middle school teaching and learning program.

General
The primary responsibility of the Head of Teaching and Learning of the Junior School English Program is to deliver and promote leadership within the areas of teaching and curriculum, to raise student achievement, improve the quality teaching and learning across the Junior School consistent with the International Principal’s vision, mission, and values.

Teaching and Learning
• Model the highest standards of professional practice and interaction with students and staff.
• Communicate, apply, and share contemporary educational research, theory and practice in pedagogy, assessment, and reporting.
• Regularly evaluate the teaching of the Junior School English Program to identify effective practice and areas for improvement with the view to
keep improving the quality of teaching.
• Support, assist and advise teachers in matters of classroom management, homework expectations, subject schedules, assessment, report writing,
cross marking.
• Oversee the development and implementation of syllabus and curriculum across all years and levels.
• Implement effective learning and assessment frameworks that use data, benchmarks, and observation to monitor every student’s progress.
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive semester based professional learning program for all staff.
• Oversee and Implement the Professional Recognition and Evaluation Program (PREP) for all staff.

Leadership & Management
• Participate in the recruitment of staff, including interviewing for staff and providing effective induction and mentoring of new staff.
• Attend regular leadership meetings under the guidance of the Head of Junior School English to assist with the planning of the wider school.
• In consultation with the Head of Junior School English continuously review the teaching and learning framework based on latest research and data
• To contribute to the development of new academic and curriculum initiatives as required by the Head of Junior School English


Requirements

English Native speakers
Bachelor degree above
Major: Education or teaching subject relevant
Age:25-50 years old
Teaching experience: at least 2 years or above
Holding teaching license

• Enthusiastic and conscientious.
• Demonstrated knowledge and at least two (2) years’ experience in teaching
at a primary school level.
• Ability to live within a foreign country for an extended period.
• Ability to form a rapport with students and build collaborative working relationships.
• Good verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
• Sensitivity to the requirements of working in an international setting with a number of non-English speaking families and colleagues.

General Requirements
• The successful candidate will be expected to support the vision and ethos of the school.
• Staff must ensure that all decisions, pertaining to their role at Haileybury, are made in line with legislations and Haileybury policies and procedures as set out in the staff code of conduct and associated policies.

Benefits

Salary based on qualifications and experience. The full package includes accommodation (2-bedroom apartment), comprehensive medical insurance, onboard costs.

-2 years contract
-28k-35k/Month for basic salary
-Full pay salary during summer and winter holidays
-Apartment provided outside of the school
-Holidays:October National Day (one week), Winter Break (three weeks in January and February), Mid Semester vacation (one week around April and one week around December) and Summer Break (six weeks in July and August)
-Working visa provided
