Job Title: Primary School Teacher
Our School:
Founded in 1996, the Shanghai Singapore International School aims to develop each student

Purpose:
To provide classroom instruction to primary school students following the school curriculum. To
perform the role of Form or Co-form teacher to ensure students’ well-being. Perform the duties
expected of a teacher in the school and engage actively as part of the faculty team.
Reports to:
Primary School Principal and Head of School
Key Accountabilities:
a) Develop a life-long love and appreciation for learning in primary students.
b) Instruct students in a classroom setting according to the curriculum and scheme of work of
the subject team.
c) Perform formative and summative assessment and contribute to the development of
assessment strategies and arrangement to the subject team.
d) Engage in and support the organization of school events.
e) Maintain a high standard of student achievement.
f) Work collaboratively with the subject team in the development and enhancement of
curriculum, pedagogy, and teaching and learning.
g) Maintains a running record of student progress and complete term reports on student
achievement.
h) Ensure student development, safety and wellness by contributing to and following student
development policies and procedures.
i) Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Preschool and Primary School Principal
and/or the Head of School.
Qualifications and experience required:
a) Demonstrated knowledge of current best practice in international pedagogy and innovation.
Successful teaching experience. Recent training and/or experience in the current
curriculum.
b) Experience as a Teacher in international schools.
c) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with
students, parents, teachers and others.
d) Relevant university credentials in an academic field. A leadership postgraduate degree is
highly desirable. Secondary license or certification for teaching the subject.
e) Work experience with other cultures and nationalities within an international education
environment. Ability to differentiate instruction for all learners.
f) Proven ability to bring about and support change. A positive attitude. Willingness to
collaborate regularly with colleagues in a positive, constructive manner. Ability to participate
in and establish collaborative structures. Proven ability to develop successful academic
programs.
g) Willingness to moderate assignments at all levels to ensure collective understanding of
achievement. Willingness to reinforce our School Mission and SSIS Student Learner
attributes.
h) Ability to use learning data to explore and improve teaching and learning practices. Ability
to engage students in learning activities using a variety of current technologies and online
platforms.
Requirements
- Native English speaker preferred
- Related Degrees in the teaching subject
- Minimum 3 years’ full time related teaching experience in International schools
- A positive attitude
