KG-G5 ESL Teacher

• Plan a schedule of push-in and pull-out support 
  
• Coordinate activities and instruction to match the learning standards and assignments being instructed during ELA classroom time
  
• Advise on strategies, resources, and accommodations for ESL students
  
• Provide additional support with behavioral challenges in the classroom if needed
  
• Co-teach lessons or provide leveled guiding reading to students who are approaching grade level and are ESL students (Note: This can sometimes include students who do not receive formal ESL support)
  
• Progress monitor ESL students frequently using fluency checks, comprehension checks and/or running records and adjust the level and/or frequency of support if the student is not making adequate progress
  
• Provide written information and input for report cards and progress reports
  
• Meet with parents to discuss student progress and additional support required
  

• Filling in for homeroom teachers who are absent – being the backup homeroom teacher for others
  
• In the unlikely event when a homeroom teacher has been absent for a long period of time, ESL SST might be transferred to the homeroom position for rest of school year with mutual agreement.
  
• Conducting admission assessments for new students applying to school and recommending appropriate grade level, department, and ESL support
  
• If needed, plan and implement a specialized individual education plan for individual low level language learners
  
• Providing additional below grade level reading wonders instructions to bilingual department students in the afternoon. 
  

• 5 classes maximum per day / 25 hours per week 
  
• Teaching hours from 8:00 to 16:30
  
• Office hours from 7:30am to 16:30
  
• Monday to Friday 
  

Requirements

Educational background preferably required for this position:

1. Holder of Bachelor's Degree or above, with Teacher's Certification in ESL 

3. American, British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander or South African (i.e. Native English speakers) would be considered more desirable 

4. Minimum 2 years of teaching experience

5. Contract duration: Starting from one year minimum, and more desirable if you have plans to consider settling in China for two or more years
