Futian International & Fine Arts (FIFA) School originally founded as Shenzhen Art Primary School and is affiliated to the Shenzhen Art School. In 2006, under the management entrusted to Hong Kong Ngai Lam College Group, FIFA school has consistently operated for more than a decade, providing all aspects of educational needs as well as being one of the most prominent and profound fine arts school in Southern China.
In October, 2011 FIFA International Department was established and joint with the regular schooling, introducing a bilingual program to the curriculum. Job Title: Middle School ELA Teacher
We are currently seeking qualified subject teachers as our full time History and English Teacher.
This position is responsible for creating a positive classroom environment for no more
than 25 students that develops in each student skills of listening, speaking, reading,
and writing that are fundamental to effective communication and literate citizenship;
that develops appreciation of good literature of all types; that motivates students to
read widely for information and recreation; that develops standards for critical
judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media; and that
discovers and develops special talents of students in the field of English and history to prepare each student to meet the school standards. Additionally, this teacher will
inculcate educational, behavioral, emotional and social skills in students for their
overall development into capable, responsible, and mature individuals, as well as
Leading students to participate various school activities (e.g. afterschool clubs, arts
festival, field day and hosting monthly school assembly). He/she must also
communicate well with the parents of their students, especially regarding any potential
social or behavioral concerns they may have. Additionally:
- Have up-to-date knowledge of an objectives based curriculum at the middle school level, up to high school level or AP level preferred
- Competent in differentiating and identifying students various needs and provide a catering and fluid educational approach
- Acquiring skills in developing school curriculum and program further in collaboration with other teachers and staff
Working hours are approximately as follows:
5 classes maximum per day
25 hours per week
Teaching and office hours from 8:00 to 17:00
Office hours from 7:30 to 17:00
At least one afterschool curriculum activity or afterschool tutoring within the
teaching capacities of 25 hours per week
Monday to Friday
Requirements
Educational background preferably required for this position:
1.Holder of Bachelor's Degree or above in Literary, English Education, English
Literature, History or Curriculum Development with Teacher's Certification or Degree in
Education (e.g. PGCE, US states teaching certification in the relevant subject areas)
2.American, British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander or South African (i.e. Native English speakers) would be considered more desirable
3.A minimum 2 years of teaching experience
4.Contract duration: Starting from one year minimum, and more desirable if you have plans to consider settling in China for two or more years. The school is most interested in retaining teachers for long term.

2.Ability to collaborate with local Chinese working partners and international working partners, teachers and school staff
3.Capable in developing positive relationship with students and parents
4.Be able to apply constructive and inquisitive approach in teaching students, and assist students learning
5.Experience in teaching ELA and history in a school environment in your home country or international schools. A commitment to progressive mathematics 6.teaching approach: e.g. using inquiry, problem solving and discussion to help students think like mathematicians and develop deep conceptual understanding.
7.Experience in history teaching preferred in a school environment in your home country or international schools. A commitment conduct science 8.inquiry approach preferred to cover science and math teaching materials
9.Have up-to-date knowledge of an objectives based curriculum at the middle school level, experience at high school is considered an advantage
10.Competent in differentiating and identifying students various needs and provide a catering and fluid educational approach
11.Acquiring skills in developing school curriculum and program further in collaboration with other teachers and staff
12.Showing commitment and self-initiation towards continual professional development
13.Having keenness or holding open-mindedness to Asian/Chinese culture and customs in the workplace
14.Teaching experience in environment with American curriculum is an advantage, but not essential
15.Further desirable if applicant could show us with a cultivated background with professional code of conduct e.g. proper dress code, neatness and punctuality
